Upload an image collection

Modified on Thu, 7 Nov at 10:19 AM

You can upload your own image collection (raster dataset) into Earth Blox to use in your projects. An image collection is a stack of images over the same location from different points in time, and can be used to create a time series.

Add image collection

On the Assets page (https://app.earthblox.io/#/projects/assets), click New image collection

Add a name for your image collection, and optionally, add a description.

Upload the first image

Start by uploading the first image to the image collection. This image is used to set the band structure for the image collection, and must finish uploading before other images can be added.

Click ‘Choose file’ and select your GeoTIFF file to upload, or drag and drop your file onto the file uploader.

Each image in a time series must be uploaded separately. You can upload images in any order, you do not have to start with the first in the time series.

Creating an image mosaic

To combine multiple GeoTIFFs to create an image mosaic, select multiple files to upload.

Select the Image type

Select whether the images in the image collection are either from a specific date, or represent a period of time. All images in a collection must be the same image type.

Image is from a specific date

If your image is from a specific date (for example, a satellite image) select the date that this image was taken.

Image represents a period of time

If the image represents a period of time, choose the cadence in the dropdown. The cadence can either be weekly, monthly, or yearly.

Add the start date for the time period by typing in a date or using the date picker.

The cadence is consistent across the image collection. E.g. If you select a yearly cadence, all images in the collection will have a yearly cadence.

Once the image has uploaded, view the Image Collection on the Assets page.

Add another image to the image collection

From the Assets page, select the image collection you would like to add an image to.
