Creating a new project

Modified on Mon, 19 Jun 2023 at 06:02 PM

On the home screen (app.earthblox.io) select Create new project > New blank project.

If you're new to Earth Blox, you may want to start with a template project

Add your project area

In the map pane on the right-hand side of the app, click on the Add area button in the map panel.

You can choose to:

  • Draw an area directly on the map.
  • Upload an area from your device.
  • Choose from Assets to use areas you've already uploaded or pre-loaded countries.

To choose a country as your project area, select Choose from Assets > Country and use the search bar to find the country.

Build a workflow

Choose a dataset

In the toolbox menu, click on Input. Drag and drop the Use this dataset block into the workspace.

Click Search Datasets on the block to open the dataset finder.

Select the dataset you want to query in your workflow and click Use dataset. You can find datasets using the search bar or the suggested search tags.

By default, recommended filter blocks and output blocks are added to the workflow to save you time. To prevent this, untick the checkbox before confirming.

Adding blocks to your workflow

  1. Drag and drop filter blocks from the toolbox into your workflow by holding them over the notch in the block you want to attach them to. Fill out the fields in the blocks – a warning icon will appear on any blocks that need changing.
  2. Drag and drop any analysis blocks into your workflow below the filter blocks, and use the cog icon to apply settings. Analysis blocks are optional.
  3. Drag and drop one or more output blocks into your workflow.

Each workflow must have an Area of Interest block and a Time period block, and at least one output block.

Get your results

Click the Run workflow button at the bottom of the workspace.

If you have more than one workflow and only want to get results for a single workflow, click the Run button at the bottom of the workflow.

Map layer outputs will appear on the map, and can be controlled under the Layers section of the map panel.

To see table outputs, click on the Dashboard tab in the right-hand panel.
